Poor oral health affects more than a person’s smile. Bacteria and infections can lead to heart disease, dementia, pneumonia and complications for diabetes. The path to better health is preventive care.
Yet, many people in Kansas City – including children – don’t have the basic oral care tools: a toothbrush and toothpaste. Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet launched Smile KC to change that.
The Smile KC campaign goal is to collect at least 10,000 new toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste within the next year. Several metro area dental offices are participating, and we’re holding quarterly public events where you can donate new toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste. Watch our Events page and our Facebook page to find out about participating dental offices and when and where public donation events will be held. You also can arrange a donation by calling our office at 816.276.7555.
This summer at T-Bones games, you can drop off your donation at Fan Services. There will be special collections at games on June 25th, July 7 and August 19. Bring your toothbrush donation to those games and be registered to win a Frank White autographed bat and baseball and have a meet and greet with the 8X Golden Glove winner and KC Medicine Cabinet spokesperson!
If your organization, church, school or scout troop wants to help collect, please call our office (816) 276-7555
We’ll distribute the toothbrushes and toothpaste at health fairs and schools and through social services agencies that work with underserved Kansas Citians.
